Histomorphological features and IHC expression in endometrial and endocervical adenocarcinoma

Background: The distinction of endometrial adenocarcinoma (EMA) from endocervical (ECA) has great significance preoperatively, since the therapeutic plan depends on primary site tumor. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is an ancillary method in distinguishing EMA and ECA, especially cases histomorphological overlap. Aims Objectives: Primary objective this study was to describe expression IHC markers–estrogen receptor (ER), vimentin, monoclonal carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), P16 ECA. Secondary features Materials Methods: This a descriptive done at Department Pathology, Government Medical College, Kottayam between November 2019 May 2021. sample size 54 which included diagnosed curettage biopsies. performed using ER, Vimentin, P16, mCEA. A semiquantitative scoring German system. Results: Histomorphological ECA were studied. Percentage with markers as follows. In endometrioid EMA-ER 100% cases, Vimentin 83.3%, 0%, CEA 7.3% cases. About 80% serous carcinomas showed vimentin positivity negative staining for ER CEA. ECA-ER 0% 16.7%, 80%, 66.7% Based histomorphologic appearance, common histologic subtype followed by carcinoma. usual type more than gastric type. Conclusion: markers-ER, are useful
